Education is important. Anyone of sound mind and judgment knows this to be true. However, the methods and means of which education can be taught and learned are widely up for debate.
So when father of two, Michael Rossi, decided to take his kids along for a long-anticipated trip to Boston where he would be running the Boston Marathon, he was more than convinced his children would learn some truly unforgettable lessons along the way. And seeing as his kids would be taking a few days away from school while they were in Boston, Michael decided to make sure they really got to experience the city’s most important sites, maybe taking in a slice of American history along the way. It all sounds perfect, right?

Unfortunately, when the school’s principal found out of Michel’s decision, she disapproved of the journey and decided to write the following letter of disapproval. Ya know, as if it were her fucking kids to make that decision.
Her letter reads as follows…
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Rossi:
I understand that your family recently took a family vacation. I want you to be aware that the Abington School District does not recognize family trips as an excused absence, regardless of the activities involved in the trip. The school district is not in the position of overseeing family vacations or evaluating the educational nature of a family trip. The dates that the children were absent were recorded as unexcused. An accumulation of unexcused absences can result in referral to our attendance officer and a subsequent notice of a violation of the compulsory school attendance law.
Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.As you might imagine, Michael didn’t appreciate the condescension and the overall lack of understanding by the school principal. And so he retorted…
